HISTORY

    • 1897Matsutaro Tanaka started the manufacture and sales of paper boxes at Yao Village, Osaka Pref., Japan.
  • 20th C.
    • 1911Seizaburo Tanaka started the supply of paper tubes for textile yarn, the first of its kind in Japan, to Teikoku Seishi Co., Ltd., a joint venture of UK Coats Co., Ltd.
    • 1913Exported paper tubes to an overseas factory of Coats Co., Ltd. in the UK, marking the first-ever export of paper tubes from Japan.
    • 1931Obtained a patent for manufacturing paper tubes. This was the first patent for paper tubes in Japan.
    • 1940Established a partnership company, Tanaka Paper Tube Manufacturing Company.
    • 1960Built the Main Plant in Yao City, Osaka.
    • 1969Established the Matsuyama Plant.
    • 1970Established the Tsuruga Plant.
    • 1980Established Kanto Paper Tube Co., Ltd.

    • 2003Established the Mie Plant.
    • 2006Collaborated with Excel Tubes & Cones, India.
      Obtained ISO-14001:2004 Certification at Head Office and Main Plant.
    • 2007Exhibited CLEAN CORE and GREEN CORE in “CMM JAPAN & JSP 2007” at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center (Tokyo Big Sight).
    • 2009Acquired Toyo Paper Tube Industry Co., Ltd., and renamed it Toyo Tanaka Paper Tube Co., Ltd.
    • 2011Opened the Kishu Plant in Mie.
      Opened the Kagoshima Plant in Kagoshima.
      Celebrated the 100th anniversary of TANAKA PAPER TUBE CO., LTD.
    • 2014Begun manufacturing and selling ABS cores.
    • 2016Built our second Mie Plant with enhanced pest-control features.
      Provided paper tubes for use in evacuation shelters following the Kumamoto earthquakes.
    • 2018Established the Kagawa Plant.
      Obtained ISO-9001:2015 and ISO-14001:2015 Certification at the Head Office and Main Plant.
      Obtained ISO-9001:2015 Certification at the Mie Plant.
    • 2019Merged with Toyo Tanaka Paper Tube Co., Ltd.
    • 2020Obtained ISO-9001:2015 Certification at the Tsuruga Plant.
    • 2021Acquired an 85% stake in Daisan Shika Kogyo Co., Ltd.
      Obtained ISO-9001:2015 Certification at the Matsuyama Plant and the Kagawa Plant.
    • 2022Norio TANAKA, the executive chairman, was awarded The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays.
    • 2023Acquired a 100% stake in Daisan Shika Kogyo Co., Ltd.
    • 2026Opened the Ube Plant in Yamaguchi.
